Milestone Moments
The Life Center of Long Island is here to promote, encourage, and foster public sentiment and respect for the dignity of human life, from conception to natural death.
Volunteers Are The Heart of Our Mission
More than 100 dedicated volunteers generously give their time and talents to advance the mission of The Life Center. From mentoring clients and answering calls to preparing baby items and supporting daily operations, our volunteers extend the reach of every donated dollar. Their service allows us to maximize resources, operate efficiently, and provide compassionate, life-affirming care to those we serve. Our impact would not be possible without this extraordinary community of volunteers and supporters.
Our First Walk-A-Ton
Our first Annual Walk-a-thon took place on May 6, 2017, at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers and walkers, the day became a powerful expression of community support. Your continued commitment has sustained our mission across Long Island and allows our life-affirming work to grow and reach more families each year.
A Night to Celebrate 30 Years
In September 2016, we marked a milestone at our Annual Dinner Dance at the Woodbury Country Club, celebrating 30 years of life-affirming service at The Life Center of Long Island. Surrounded by generous supporters, we honored Monsignor James Lisante for his enduring leadership and spiritual guidance, and welcomed guest speaker Rick Hinshaw, who reflected on our history and the lasting impact of our mission across Long Island.
Celebrating the Legacy of Our Volunteers
For nearly four decades, the Life Center of Long Island has gathered each year to honor its volunteers with a special appreciation luncheon. This longstanding tradition recognizes the dedication and compassion of hundreds of volunteers who generously give thousands of hours of their time and talents in service to the community.
More than 2,477 Lives Saved Since 1986 — and counting
The Life Center of Long Island has helped protect the lives of more than 2,477 pre-born babies through compassionate, life-affirming care. Each life represents a mother supported, a family strengthened, and a future preserved. This milestone reflects decades of dedicated service, faithful support from our community and volunteers, and an unwavering commitment to the dignity of every human life.
Decades of Meeting Families Where Life Begins
Through the generosity of our community, essential baby items—car seats, cribs, pack-n-plays, bassinets, and standard strollers—have found their way into countless homes. These gifts do more than meet a need; they create safer beginnings, ease heavy burdens, and remind parents they are not alone. We are profoundly grateful to the supporters whose kindness continues to shape moments of hope for families we serve.
28.8 Million Diapers Given Across the Decades
Each month, the Life Center of Long Island distributes approximately 300 packs—nearly 60,000 diapers—to families in need. Over more than 40 years of ministry, that commitment has placed over 28.8 million diapers into the arms of mothers caring for their babies.
This milestone is about more than numbers. It reflects four decades of steadfast support for women choosing life, families strengthened, and countless moments where dignity, compassion, and practical help met a real need.
