Our Story

Founded in May 1986 by a small group who recognized the urgent need to support pregnant women in crisis, The Life Center is now marking its 40-year milestone.

What began as a grassroots effort has grown into a trusted pregnancy resource center serving thousands of individuals and families each year.

The Life Center is a private, private, faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to serving all people.

Our services are provided at no cost, and no one is ever turned away. This work is made possible through the generosity of our benefactors, whose financial support enables us to continue offering life-affirming care and resources to those in need.

Our Mission

The Life Center of Long Island is here to promote, encourage, and foster public sentiment and respect for the dignity of human life, from conception to natural death.

It is essential that pregnant women choosing life have access to much-needed support services. Our goal here at the Life Center is to educate, equip and empower pregnant and parenting women and men by providing them with the resources and emotional support needed to take care of themselves and their children and enable them to make healthy decisions for their future.

Our Approach

The Life Center is a private, faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building a culture of life, guided by Catholic principles. Through education, outreach, and compassionate support, we help pregnant women in crisis by providing the resources they need to carry their pregnancies to term and care for their babies.

For decades, the Life Center of Long Island has supported women and men facing unplanned pregnancies, offering post‑abortion healing, parenting classes, material assistance, and referrals to community resources and much more.

With a strong focus on outreach, advocacy, and multilingual support, we continue to expand our network to better assist, educate, and empower families—and to help save babies’ lives.

A Milestone Moment:
Our First Walk-A-Thon

Our first Annual Walk-A-Thon took place on May 6, 2017, at Marjorie Post Park in Massapequa. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers and walkers, the day became a powerful expression of community support.

Your continued commitment has sustained our mission across Long Island and allows our life-affirming work to grow and reach more families each year.

Where We Serve

The Life Center operates four locations across Long Island—Massapequa, Hempstead, Deer Park, and Smithtown—allowing us to meet people where they are and respond to community needs with care and consistency.

Each center is staffed with experienced Client Services Coordinators and bilingual Consultants to provide personalized, accessible, and compassionate care to every individual who walks through our doors.
