In October of 2006, The Life Center received a CBAE Grant from the federal government. CBAE means Community Based Abstinence Education. The purpose of L. I. Teen Freedom is to help high-risk, culturally diverse, economically deprived youth using abstinence based curricula, which teaches healthy relationships, self-respect, and academic goals.
L. I. Teen Freedom has prepared a multi-media program consisting of "WAIT Training", The Choice Game, The Medical Institute for Sexual Hleath, and Health Edco Products to deliver in school abstinence-until-marriage education. We also offer parent workshops, parent/teen events and community advisory boards. This program fosters collaboration among families, community resources, and schools to deliver a vigorous, consistent message to unmarried teenagers to practice sexual integrity and respect themselves and others. The L. I. Teen Freedom curriculum is used to enhance teen awareness of how abstinence from sexual activity promotes health. Presently, staff instructors provide abstinence-until-marriage education to students in grades 7 through 12. We are currently servicing Freeport Dodd Middle School, Lawrence Middle School, Lawrence High School, Elmont, HS, New Hyde Park, HS, McGann-Mercy, HS and Amityville Alternative High School. Future schools waiting to be scheduled: Carey, HS, Floral Park, HS and Sewanhaka. For more information regarding L. I. Teen Freedom's services and upcoming events, please visit the L. I. Teen Freedom website at www.liteenfreedom.org. |
